The Barossa Valley is located in South Australia, approximately 70 km north-east of Adelaide, the state's capital. Just an hour's drive from Adelaide Airport, it's easy to be immersed in one of the world’s most famous wine regions in no time. Once you arrive, you'll discover that the towns of the Barossa are all a short drive from one another, making it simple to explore the area.
Adelaide is well-serviced by both domestic and international flights. Upon arriving in Adelaide, there are a variety of transport options to help you complete your journey to the Barossa, including car hire, local tour operators and public transport. If you prefer private travel, there is also a light-plane airport at Parafield, just 45 minutes south of the Barossa in metropolitan Adelaide. Travelling by car…
Driving is one of the best ways to reach the Barossa Valley, with multiple route options depending on your schedule and preference for direct or scenic travel:
Fastest Route: Via Northern Connector to Tanunda (approximately 1 hour 4 minutes).
Direct Route: Via Main North Road and Barossa Valley Way to Lyndoch and Tanunda (approximately 1 hour 34 minutes).
Scenic Route: Via North East Road through Chain of Ponds to Williamstown and Tanunda (approximately 1 hour 32 minutes).
Travelling by Public Transport…
Adelaide Metro Rail Service: The Adelaide Metro rail service operates daily from Adelaide to Gawler Central all year round, providing a reliable connection for visitors traveling to the region.
LinkSA Bus Service: offers a daily bus service that connects the Barossa Valley with the Adelaide Metro public transport network via Gawler Railway Station. Tours and Transfers…
A number of excellent tour companies operate in the Barossa, offering guided wine tours and transfers. There are also several operators who offer transfers from Adelaide and surrounding areas.
